For the Preliminary task my group and I had the idea of creating a short clip of a rom-com that includes the camera angles requested by the exam board including 180 degree rule, shot reverse shot and match on action. Also including in the script a person walking through a door, sitting down at a table and exchanging dialogue with another person.
We have decided to use the 180 degree rule while the two characters are on their date so the camera is on one side of the table and can see both people on the date and move up to 180 degrees round them without seeing the other side of the room which can confuse the viewer if the 180 degree rule wasn't used. At the beginning of the clip there will be a short scene where two characters are talking about a date one of them will be going on in the next scene. To film this we will use a SRS (shot, reverse, shot) where there will be an eye line match to show they are both equals and friends.
To show a match on action our group decided to show one of the characters walk down a corridor and then see them walking into a restaurant form both the exterior and interior view. This character is there to meet the man on the date with the other girl and it turns out he is cheating on both of them with each other. As the person that walks through the door has to sit down and exchange dialogue, we have decided to do this to create humour. The girl that walked through the door and question the other girl (her friend) whether she new he was dating her as well, she sits down through the shock of her friend being on a date with her date.
There will also be different camera shots such as close up, mid shots, extreme shot/ establishing shot, long shot and different camera movements for example panning and tracking. There will be different equipment being used to film this clip such as a Dolly so we are able to track the actress down the corridor, a tripod to keep the camera steady when filming and panning and a Samsung hand held camera.
